Privacy Policy

Plain-English Summary: FenceMyPool is a reference site. We don't take quote requests; when you want quotes, you go to our partner Angi, and Angi's privacy policy covers what you give them. We collect your email address only if you sign up for our newsletter or checklist, and we use Google Analytics to see how the site is used. We don't sell your email address.

1. Introduction

FenceMyPool.com ("we," "us") operates www.fencemypool.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what information the Site collects, how we use it, who receives it, and your choices.

2. Information You Give Us

Email address, when you sign up for our newsletter or download our checklist.
Anything you write when you email us at info@fencemypool.com. Those emails are received and stored in Google Workspace (Gmail).

Our cost calculator runs in your browser. What you enter there is not sent to us.

We do not take quote requests. The quote links on the Site go to Angi, and anything you enter there is collected by Angi under Angi's privacy policy.

3. Information Collected Automatically

Google Analytics 4 records pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, the referring site, and events such as clicks on our Angi and Amazon links, newsletter signups and the pool type and fence material chosen in our homepage quote form.
Our pages store two small items in your browser: the state or city page you came from (in session storage, cleared when you close the tab) so we can tell which page a referral came from, and whether you dismissed the site banner (in local storage).
Loading our pages sends your IP address to our host (Cloudflare) and to the providers of our fonts and icons (Google Fonts and cdnjs).

4. How We Use It

To send the newsletter or checklist you asked for, and to answer your emails.
To understand how the Site is used and improve it.
To comply with the law.

We don't sell your email address. Information goes to:

Kit (our newsletter email provider), through a Cloudflare Worker we run, for the email addresses you give us when you sign up for our newsletter or download our checklist.
Google Workspace (Gmail), which receives and stores the emails you send to info@fencemypool.com.
Google, for analytics.
Cloudflare, which hosts the Site.
Angi and CJ Affiliate, only if you click one of our Angi links; the link tells them which page you came from so we can be paid a referral commission. Amazon, if you click an Amazon link.
Authorities, if the law requires it.
A buyer or successor, if the Site is sold or merged.

6. Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to measure visits. The Site does not run advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

7. Affiliate Links

We earn commissions on some links: Angi referrals through CJ Affiliate, and Amazon Associates. Those companies have their own privacy policies.

8. Retention

Newsletter subscribers stay on our Kit list until they unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We use double opt-in: you join the list only after you click the confirmation link we email you. Analytics data is kept under our Google Analytics retention setting, which is 14 months. You can ask us to delete your information at any time at info@fencemypool.com.

9. Your Choices and Rights

Unsubscribe from any email with the link in it. You can ask to access, correct or delete your information at info@fencemypool.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR.

10. Children

The Site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and will delete it if we learn we have.

11. Security

We use reasonable measures, but no website is perfectly secure.

12. Changes

We will update the date above when this policy changes.
